Prepare before danger

Bank spare Coins and valuable supplies before combat. Carry Repair Kits and keep enough room to collect loot. The chart’s danger labels and your opponent’s level matter more than the value of your equipped ship.

Do not use logout as an escape from combat. A disconnected ship can remain in the world until its active combat ends and can still take committed hits.

What enters death loot

Ordinary sinking places carried goods, equipped equipment and the fishing tool into death loot. Owned boat hull items and the active treasure-hunt map are retained under their separate rules. Bank storage is untouched.

All hired Crew, including reserves, are lost. The equipped Captain is kept on PvE death. On a player kill the equipped Captain is dropped Corrupted; carried Captains also face corruption in death loot.

Recovering your belongings

Death loot is private to its assigned owner for 5 min and despawns after 7 min. For PvE death the owner is the fallen sailor; on a player kill the killer receives the private claim.

When the original owner recovers eligible equipment, its condition is preserved. Another looter receives damaged equipment and Corrupted Captains. The recovery rule is not insurance against the barrel being taken or expiring.

Repair and restoration

Repair Kits heal your current HP; they do not repair Broken equipment or restore Corrupted Captains. Use the relevant city restoration service for damaged equipment and Ship Crew for Captains, when a restoration quote is available.

Protected tutorial deaths

The private tutorial bypasses ordinary death-loot loss. That protection ends when you enter ordinary waters. Encounter-specific protected deaths, where provided, are explained by the encounter rather than being a general rule.
