Chests and treasures

Treasure Chests open into merchant valuables. Their rarity controls the metal family, while a separate contents roll chooses a Goblet, Coins, Jewelry or Crown.

Finding a chest

Ordinary non-tutorial NPC kills make an extra chest roll alongside their other loot. Level 1+ can drop Common, 40+ adds Rare, 70+ adds Epic and 100+ adds Legendary. At most one chest is produced by that extra roll.

Fishing treasure hunts grant one treasure directly at the end of the hunt. They do not give an additional unopened chest.

Base chance per eligible ordinary enemy kill
ChestMinimum enemy levelBase chance
Common Treasure Chest11.5625% (1/64)
Rare Treasure Chest401.041667% (1/96)
Epic Treasure Chest700.625% (1/160)
Legendary Treasure Chest1000.048828% (1/2048)

Opening and selling

Use an intact chest from Inventory while alive and outside an active trade. Opening consumes the chest and replaces it in the same slot with one treasure.

Sell the discovered treasure at the Harbour Merchant. The Merchant buys these valuables for their fixed listed values. Treasure rarity does not apply another equipment-quality multiplier to that price.

Contents and values

Common chests contain Iron treasures, Rare contains Bronze, Epic contains Silver and Legendary contains Gold. The Goblet, Coins, Jewelry and Crown chances are respectively 50%, 30%, 15% and 5%.

Chest-chance bonuses

Grave Robber increases the occurrence chance of the enemy chest roll by 500% relative, making it 6× the base chance. Regular Lookout combines with it for 12× the base chance. The treasure multiplier is capped at 12× when bonuses combine.

These modifiers do not change a chest into a higher rarity and do not improve the 50/30/15/5 contents split. They do not affect a fishing bottle’s map rarity roll.
